The IAM's Skill for Life for Riders package costs £149. There is also a single non-refundable contribution of £50 towards the petrol costs of your Observer as they are using their own bikes and receive no payment from the IAM. £199 may sound a lot of money, but you should regard it as a lifetime investment in your riding skills. It's a small amount when you compare it to the annual cost of running your bike.
In a word, yes. Some insurance companies give a discount to bikers who have passed the Advanced Test. You are also more likely to build up a no-claims bonus using the advanced riding techniques we show you. Your bike will return better mpg when you use a smoother riding technique and your brakes and tyres will last longer.
